Air Force Reserve Command's 419th Fighter Wing are equipped with Block 32 F-16C's and are based at Hill AFB, also home to a Regular Air Force outfit, the 388th FW (Who supplied the 419th and the AF Reserve with their first 'Vipers' back in January 1984)

Lockheed Martin's (formerly General Dynamics) F-16 Fighting Falcon entered service with the Air National Guard (ANG) in July 1983 and in January 1984 the first F-16's came into service with the Air Force Reserve (AFRC formerly AFRes).

The ANG have at present twenty eight Wings operating various variant's of the 'Viper' (23 with C/D's, 4 with the ADF variant's and 1 still operating the A/B model). Whilst four Fighter Wings of AFRC operate F-16C/D's. The United States Reserve forces operate various Block types from the Block 5's, in the training role with the 162nd FW at Tucson, up to the latest F-16 variant, the Block 52's of the 169th FW at McEntire ANGB (which was also the first ANG unit to operate the F-16 in 1984).

With the F-22 Raptor not due to reach the regular Air Force until 2005 and the JSF a long way away, the reserve forces will have to make do with the 'Viper' for quite a few years...Which I think will suit them just fine.....
